About Maltitol
Maltitol is a sugar alcohol made by hydrogenating maltose. It has about 75–90% of the sweetness of sucrose with lower calories and is used in sugar-free products.
Uses and applications
Confectionery
Used in sugar-free chocolate, hard candy and chewing gum.
Bakery
Used as a bulk sweetener and humectant in reduced-sugar baked goods.
Pharmaceutical
Used as a sweet excipient in chewable tablets and syrups.
