About Sorbitol
Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol with about 60% of the sweetness of sucrose. It is non-crystallising in syrup form and is also available as a crystalline powder.
Uses and applications
Food
Used in sugar-free confectionery, chewing gum and baked goods as a sweetener and humectant.
Oral care
Used in toothpaste as a humectant and sweetener.
Pharmaceutical
Used in syrups, chewable tablets and as an excipient.
